Inclusion
Liphook Federation is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where every learner can achieve, belong, and thrive. We believe every child deserves the chance to succeed. Through a graduated approach that combines high-quality teaching, targeted interventions, and innovative technology, we ensure all learners feel supported, valued, and empowered.
Ordinarily Available Provision (OAP)
Our approach to Ordinarily Available Provision is based on The Education Endowment Foundation’s five a day approach, which consists of five evidence-based teaching strategies designed to support all pupils, particularly those with special educational needs.
- Direct instruction – Breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps with clear explanations and modelling
- Cognitive and metacognitive strategies – Helping pupils understand how they learn by encouraging planning, monitoring, and self-evaluation.
- Scaffolding – Providing structured support that gradually reduces as pupils gain confidence and independence
- Flexible grouping – Using different grouping methods based on pupils’ needs, rather than fixed ability groups.
- Use of technology – Leveraging assistive tools and digital resources to enhance learning accessibility and engagement.
Oracy is a golden thread running through our curriculum and enables all children to access the curriculum.
Adult support and interventions
Every class has a learning support assistant (LSA) during morning lessons. LSAs run interventions in the afternoon: keep-up and catch-up interventions are used. Many of our interventions follow evidence-based programmes such as NELI (Nuffield Early Language Intervention), speech and language programmes, Little Wandle rapid catch-up and number fluency.
Pupil premium funding is used for running early morning booster groups and 1:1 teaching time. These sessions focus on areas such as pre-teaching vocabulary, reading, spelling and number fluency.
Use of Technology
In Reception, each class has a shared set of iPads, and from Year 1 onwards, every child has their own device. We use a range of helpful tools to make learning accessible for all, such as Clicker 8 and Immersive Reader. From Year 4, pupils start using Microsoft OneNote, which allows learning to become more personalised and pupils become increasingly independent at accessing previous learning, resources and scaffolds.
