Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is additional funding to help schools close the attainment gap between children from low income and other disadvantaged families and their peers. It was introduced 2011 by the Department for Education (DfE) and is a specific grant based on school census figures. The grant is calculated by the number of children entitled to Free School Meals (FSM), children who are looked after, or post looked after, and those with parents in the armed forces.
The Pupil Premium is in addition to main school funding and is used by the school to improve progress and raise the standard of attainment for those pupils. The DfE have agreed that it is for school to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent. As a school we dedicate a significant proportion of our Pupil Premium allocation directly into ensuring all pupils receive high quality teaching and learning. However, we recognise that some children have significant barriers to learning and that those children may need additional support to overcome them. Therefore, some of our funding may be spent on providing support in those areas. At the Federation of Liphook Infant School and Liphook CofE Junior School, we are committed to providing a curriculum that ensures that all children, including the most disadvantaged, are able to reach their full potential.
At our school, eligible pupils may benefit from the following:
- Emotional Literacy Support (ELSA) which is led by a fully trained ELSA raises self-esteem and promotes positive learning attitudes
- financial support for after-school clubs, trips and residentials to ensure all children have access to a broad and motivating curriculum
- access to additional educational resources
- Help towards school uniform and PE kit
Schools are required to publish information on how the Pupil Premium allocation is spent and the impact of this expenditure. In addition, they must set out how they plan to spend their funding for the coming year. Please see the most recent Pupil Premium Strategies below. The latest reports also contain the reviews for the previous year.
